Questions from Kenya
Question
We have a question from Kenya about whether angels have physical or spiritual bodies and if they still work in the world today. In the Bible we see that angels appear to people as messengers but do they have spiritual or physical forms?
Answer
Angels are spirits and don't have physical bodies. But they can appear in human form like a man. Angels can also appear as other worldly things that seem quite terrifying which is probably why most of the time the first thing angels say to people is "Do not be afraid!".
Question
We know that angels appeared to people in the Bible but can they do the same in these days, so many centuries later?
Answer
Well, we know how God always protects and is in charge of what happens to us and sends His angels to protect us. There is a true story about a missionary how had to walk through the jungle at night h to get to the people who had never even heard about Jesus but the jungle was filled with bandits. Still, he made it out just fine and they told him that bandits saw him in night. Yet they didn't want to go near him because of the other men he had with him. And when the missionary heard this, he said, " What men? I was traveling alone!". God had sent his angels to protect missionary from the bandits. Plus, there have also been unconfirmed sightings of angels. Either as a protector or as a comforter or singing as a choir like they did to the shepherds when Jesus was born. https://www.christianpost.com/news/angels-protected-pioneer-missionaries-in-tibet.html Here is a link if you want to learn more.
Question
Our next question is about how the Bible says that the heaven and Earth belong to God, so why does Satan rule the world? God is the creator of the Earth and therefore rules over it. God also takes care of His creations like the little sparrows and us. So if God rules, how does Satan rule?
Answer
Well, there is one story in particular that might help this question. The story of Job {not like working job, the other Job, pronounced Jobe, a long o}. Job was a very, very rich man and more importantly was righteous in the sight of God. Satan, however did not like this and wanted to test Job. Of course, Satan cannot do things on his own. He must gain permission from God. So Satan did just that. He went to talk with God about this. God was very happy with Job and the Bible says He was telling Satan about Job and how good he was and that he always praises God. Satan probably wasn't very happy about that. Satan replied that Job was only doing these things because God had blessed him greatly, but take away these blessings and he will turn away from God. God allowed Satan to take away Jobs riches and blessings, but not to touch Job. And with that Satan attacked.
He sent foreign bandits to take away Job's livestock and kill most of his servants. He sent a strong wind to knock over the house in which all of his kids were partying in, killing them all and the servants too. Job was devastated, but still clung to God. Satan was probably very angry. Why wasn't his plan working? Job just loved God that much, even without his blessings. Satan had another plan up his sleeve though. He went back to God saying that Job still loved God since he was healthy, but take away his health and he will turn away from God. So God allowed Satan to take away Job's health, but not to touch his life. Away Satan went and gave Job painful boils all over his body. Ow! Still Job stayed true to God. some of Job's friends came over to "help" him. They sat together for days until one of them seemed to come to a conclusion.
He said that Job must have sinned and now God was upset and was punishing him. But Job replied that he had done nothing wrong. Still, his friends were stubborn and insisted that he should repent. Yet Job was going to be stubborn too and refused to repent for something he didn't do. They argued until finally, Job got fed up and said things he would soon regret. His friends left him and as they were walking a whirlwind blew, frightening them. Well, wouldn't you be scared? This whirlwind was different, though. God was speaking through it. He scolded the three friends abut how they had wrongly accused Job. You can imagine how dazed they were after hearing and seeing these things. They made sure to apologize to Job. God then went to talk to Job. Remember how Job said some things that he would regret? Well now I will explain it. God went to talk to Job about it and said that Job did not have the right to say those things. Job repented to God. And guess what! After the test God had put Job through {Satan obviously lost} God restored all of Job's riches and doubled most of it. A happy ending. So God lets Satan have his ways but only in God's permission. Afterall, you can't tell how strong your faith is without a test.
