Church Corner Greeting
Welcome to Church Corner! Here we will talk about the church community and how we to act as Christians. How we should stick to Christ and how we are the body of Christ. We will also have an interview with some church members, learn ways we can help others, and a whole lot more! Afterall, in the church community, we help each other in Christ.
The Student Helpers Association
Jesus has told us to to love and help one another. And there are many ways to do this. We can help with chores, we can be kind to our siblings, we can help our classmates with their homework, we can start a Student Helpers Association. Wait, what? Okay, let me explain. The Student Helpers Association (SHA) is a group of students who help teachers and staff members at school during recess or break. They can help with many things, from chores, to cleaning, and to help with the class. SHA is a lovely way to say "Thank you" and "We appreciate you" to teachers and staff members. Just remember to ask your teachers before doing since different schools have different rules. And it doesn't even need to be limited to school! You can do it at work, other classes, lessons, and much more! A technique that I would advice if you're doing it is that if you have more than 2 or 3 people in the group, have different people go on different days. So for example, 3 people can go Monday, 2 people on Tuesday and so on. It may help so that not too many people are roaming around inside. Also try to schedule meetings with teachers or staff members. It isn't safe to just roam aimlessly around the halls. When you see a teacher or staff member around, ask them if they need any help. If so tell the group and quickly go to see them at recess and when done, immediately go back to recess with everyone else. If you are going to help someone doing recess, be sure to ask the aids or teachers so they know where you are or say they can tell you if you should probably do it another day. SHA is lovely for both the students and for the staff members. Most important, God loves it when we help each other and show His love.
Walking on the Water
In the Bible, we learn about how God sent His Son, Jesus, to Earth. Jesus did lots of miracles that show His power over Creation, from healing the sick to raising the dead. We learn about Jesus's miracle of walking on water to get to His scared disciples on a boat. You may have seen people pull tricks of walking on pool water, but they usually have glass underneath or some other trick. Jesus plays no tricks, He really does have power over Creation. The disciples were very scared since they were in a big storm. Jesus had stayed on land, praying. When He saw His disciples in the waves, He walked to them, literally. Jesus walked on the stormy waters! His disciples were now even more scared since they saw some one walking of water towards them. They cried out, thinking it was a ghost, but Jesus comforted them saying it was Him. Peter asked that, if it really was Jesus, to let him come to Him. Jesus gave him permission. Peter stepped out and walked on the water, too! He walked towards Jesus, but then he looked back at the storm and became doubtful. As he took off his focus from Jesus, Peter began to sink! Peter cried out to Jesus and He pulled him back up. Jesus asked him, "Oh you of little faith, why did you doubt?". Both Jesus and Peter then returned to the boat, and when Jesus got there, the storm stopped. His disciples were amazed and said, "Truly You are the Son of God.". This is an awesome story and we can learn a lot of things from it. One if the things is how we will sink. We will sink into the world and sin because we take our focus off of Jesus. Peter stayed afloat as long as he focused on Jesus, When he removed his focus, he began to sink. But then he called to Jesus to help him. A lot of people don't call out to Jesus. Sometimes, they think they can help themselves. Other times, they don't notice that they are sinking. And still others are afraid that Jesus won't help them, that He will turn away. Jesus wants to help you! He knows we can't do it ourselves. He wants us to come to Him. Jesus loves you, and died so your mistakes and sinking could be forgiven. Just ask. Ask and you will be answered. God loves you. So, will you walk on the water with Jesus?
