The Tower of Babel and the Creation Mandate
Moving on down the timeline. Whoosh! We have made it. Now, the earth has been refilled with life. Unfortunately, sin has multiplied too. The people have gone crazy! Everyone is lying, stealing, murdering, and sinning. They have also gotten quite prideful. In fact, people were starting to forget about God and thought they didn't need Him. They were disobeying Him greatly. God told them to spread around the world (this command is called the Creation Mandate) and multiply but they didn't listen. Everybody stayed in one big area and built large cities for themselves. One day, they got the craziest idea. The people decided that they were going to build a very tall tower, led by King Nimrod (which at that time meant 'great hunter'). God did not approve. Not only were the people in for a big disappointment, but they were getting prideful. So prideful, that they tried to go up high as God. Still, they got building. Up, up, and up. They worked, and worked, and worked. Finally, God decided that this had gone for too long. He caused everyone to speak a different language. Hola! Hello! Que? What? Que estas diciendo?! What are you saying?! Everyone got confused since they didn't know what other people were saying. The confusion lead to chaos and even the leaders couldn't control the people. They probably couldn't understand each other. The confusion, chaos, and fear stopped the prideful construction. Everyone separated in to different groups with other people who spoke their language. Hi! Hey! How are you? Good. Wanna meet up again? Sure! The groups spread around the world and multiplied. They had also accomplished the Creation Mandate. Hooray! Time to whoosh off. Zoom!
